A New Star; A New People; A New Freedom!

The Illinois Juneteenth Committee (IJC) is the official statewide affiliate of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF), founded to advocate for the recognition of Juneteenth as a state and national holiday — and to honor the history, culture, and future of African American communities. We lead with purpose through education, celebration, and scholarship, supporting youth empowerment, hosting the annual Miss Illinois Juneteenth Scholarship Pageant, and organizing community-wide Juneteenth events across Illinois.
